Como

Como

The town of Como lies in a fine position on the southern shore of Lake Como and has approximately 86,000 inhabitants.

It was founded by the Insurbrian Gauls who were the same people that founded Milan and became strategically important for its fine geographical position when it was captured and colonised by the Romans in 2C BC.

The city today has a particularly attractive old centre with long straight narrow streets and houses with pretty courtyards and a Cathedral made entirely from Marble dating back from the late 14C.
