Ladies Festivals in Valkenburg
Filled with history and situated at the crossroads of the two ancient Roman cities of Maastricht and Arnheim, the town is an ideal place for a weekend break. If you believe that the whole of Holland is flat, then you will be amazed at the scenery that greets you. Rolling hills, slow moving rivers, water-mills and castles replace the windmills and canals found elsewhere in Holland.
One of the highlights of a trip to Valkenburg is a visit to the caves under the town. Dug by the Romans some 2000 years ago to exploit the mari-stone used for building, the caves offer some fascinating sights such as Roman catacombs, a chapel, sculptures and paintings as well as a replica coal mine.
A ride on the chair lift will take you 250 ft above the town where you can enjoy a drink with spectacular views of the town and its surroundings.
You have a choice of two hotels, both in the 4* category. These are the Walram and the Grande. As befits hotels in this category, both are extremely well appointed. All rooms have private facilities, colour TV and direct-dial telephone.
