Ladies Festivals in Bayeux

Bayeux - City of art and history, is the birthplace of William the Conqueror and home of the world famous tapestry which dates back to the 11th century. The tapestry, which is 70 metres long, depicts in amazing detail the Norman conquest of Britain up to and including the Battle of Hastings, and is the most amazing document to survive the Middle Ages. The magnificent cathedral, Notre Dame de Bayeux, also dates back to the same period.

Bayeux, famous for its lace and porcelain, has a rich cultural and artistic history. It was the first city in France to be liberated by the Allies on the 7 September 1945. The town, incredibly, escaped the bombardments of 1944 and thus remained intact. The Normandy landing beaches are nearby.
